Renbrook School Dedicates Hiking Trail to Retired Kindergarten Teacher, Steve Arnold

Head of School celebrating trail dedication with teacher and wife
Mr. Arnold spent endless hours over the years after school and on weekends clearing paths through the beautiful woodlands surrounding the school, literally blazing trails. Students from Kindergarten to Grade 8 have hiked and traveled these trails learning countless lessons along the way. Renbrook’s deeply engrained commitment to outdoor teaching and learning is due in no small part to Mr. Arnold’s efforts.

In recent years, students, faculty, and staff have come together on their traditional “Mountain Day” each spring and fall to celebrate and hike the trails as a collective group. At the recent Spring 2023 Mountain Day celebration, Renbrook School recognized and honored Steve Arnold by dedicating the longest trail to him. Surrounded by his former students and colleagues, Mr. Arnold led the community on a hike along the trails to the trailhead, where a plaque commemorating his gift has been placed. The plaque was handcrafted by Arnold’s former student and Renbrook alumnus Dylan Rutledge, Class of 2020, whose family owns TR Woodcrafts. Steve’s legacy will live on in Renbrook’s lasting dedication to bringing outdoor learning to life.
