Performing Arts

The Performing Arts at Renbrook include opportunities for students to explore and further develop their passion for music and theater. Music classes teach musicianship skills such as rhythm, music reading, composition, and improvisation on instruments such as the ukulele and xylophone. Students may also audition for one of our musical productions. The 5th & 6th grade Winter Musical is a great way for students to take the stage as they learn acting, dance choreography, and singing. The Spring Musical allows all students to audition, and students are cast in lead and ensemble parts. Recent musicals include Moana, Seussical, and The Little Mermaid.

Music

At Renbrook, we believe in teaching music for music’s sake. The musical skills and concepts that students learn at Renbrook enable them to appreciate and engage in music for a lifetime. Participating in music fosters confidence and discipline in students as they advance throughout our extensive programing.

Choral Music: Students have opportunities to perform in a variety of vocal ensembles beginning with Fifth Grade Singers, Chorus for students in grades 6-8, and Renaissance, a chamber singing group with membership by special audition.

Instrumental Music: Novice and intermediate instrumentalists perform in our concert bands. Students who have achieved more advanced proficiency through lessons and dedicated practice may audition for Jazz Band and String Ensemble.

Theater Arts

Upper School students have the opportunity to audition for one of two musicals - everyone gets a part and everyone has fun! Students also contribute to the performing arts through technical theater: learning how to run the light and sound board, managing backstage, art and costume design for productions, and building sets.
