Arts

Arts are a critical part of a well-rounded education and a balanced life. Renbrook students express themselves creatively on stage and in the studio, where they build strong foundational skills and are encouraged to take creative risks. The arts are celebrated at Renbrook, and students have numerous opportunities to perform and exhibit their work throughout the school year.

Visual artists study important artists, art movements, and the significance of cultural iconography while building fluency in a variety of media. Students hone classical two-dimensional techniques through pencil drawing, pastels, watercolor, and printmaking. Using clay and other media, students practice three-dimensional building and design.

Our performing arts programs build musicianship for instrumentalists and singers at all levels. All students learn to read music and play a variety of instruments as part of our music program. Instrumentalists and vocalists who wish to specialize can join one of our performing ensembles.

Each year, Upper School students have the opportunity to audition for one of two musicals - everyone gets a part, and everyone has fun! Students also contribute to the performing arts through technical theater: learning how to run the light and sound board, managing backstage, art and costume design for productions, and building sets.
