The School for Young Children at the University of Saint Joseph - Certifications
Yasmid Montalvo has been a dedicated member of the Renbrook Beginning School since 2007, serving as a Preschool Partner Teacher. With coursework in ESL at Norwalk Community College and certifications from The School for Young Children at the University of Saint Joseph, Yasmid brings both training and heart to her work with young learners.
Before joining Renbrook, she spent nearly two decades at Lollipop Tree Nursery School, where she taught toddlers and led Spanish and STEM instruction for three- and four-year-olds. Her experience in classrooms with toddlers, preschoolers, Junior Kindergarten, and Kindergarten students has shaped her holistic, child-centered approach.
For Yasmid, preschool is about building the whole child through play, structure, creativity, and lots of love. She focuses intentionally on social-emotional growth, nurturing confidence, kindness, independence, and a strong sense of belonging. She believes that learning should be fun, playful, and full of wonder, and she delights in the joy that fills the room when children laugh, explore, and discover something new.
Yasmid loves the strong sense of family at Renbrook and works each day to ensure that every child feels seen, valued, and capable. Fluent in Spanish, she also brings cultural richness and connection to her classroom community.
