Sandy Grabicki
Lower School Reading Interventionist

University of Vermont - B.S.
Sandy Grabicki has been part of the Renbrook community since 2007 and currently serves as Lower School Reading Interventionist, supporting students in Grades 1 through 5. She holds a BS in Elementary Education from the University of Vermont, with a minor in Sociology, and has pursued ongoing professional development in Fundations, Orton Gillingham, Math in Focus, and NAIS reaccreditation.
Sandy began her teaching career at The Hamlin School in San Francisco, where she taught second grade, before moving to The Rashi School in Newton, Massachusetts, where she taught third grade and served as a lead teacher, co-teacher, and mentor for the DeLeT teacher education program at Brandeis University. At Renbrook, she taught second, third, and fourth grade for many years before transitioning into her current role as Reading Interventionist.
Today, Sandy works closely with students who benefit from additional literacy support, providing individualized and small group instruction in phonics, vocabulary development, comprehension, and fluency. She also partners with students in Grades 3 through 5 to strengthen writing skills, focusing on handwriting, planning, sentence construction, revising, editing, and elaboration. Collaboration with classroom teachers is central to her work, ensuring that each child receives coordinated and comprehensive support.
For Sandy, teaching has always been more than a profession. From babysitter and camp counselor to substitute, tutor, and classroom teacher, working with children has been a constant thread throughout her life. She wants every child to know they are not alone, that they are seen, heard, and supported. She believes learning flourishes when children feel happy, confident, and connected, and she strives to create those conditions every day.
Sandy treasures the strong relationships she has built at Renbrook over nearly two decades. She values the genuine care within the community and finds great joy when former students and families return years later to reconnect. Outside of school, she lives with her husband, two children, and their sweet pup. A fun fact about Sandy is that she has driven cross-country four times. Her favorite novels include The Nightingale and The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah.
