Upper School Band

University of Connecticut - B.S., University of Connecticut - M.Mus.

Mark Neri joined Renbrook in 2025 as the Upper School Band Director, bringing 33 years of experience in instrumental music education. He teaches Band and Jazz Band for students in grades 5 through 8, helping young musicians develop technical skill, musical expression, and the collaborative spirit that makes ensemble performance so powerful.

Mark earned both his Bachelor of Science and Master’s degrees in Music Education from the University of Connecticut and holds a Professional Educator Certificate. Prior to coming to Renbrook, he spent over three decades teaching middle and high school instrumental music in Granby Public Schools. Throughout his career, he has guided countless students not only in musicianship but also in perseverance, discipline, and teamwork.

Music remains an important part of Mark’s life beyond the classroom. He performs on tuba with the Plainville Wind Ensemble and with Five Metal Brass, a brass quintet. His lifelong love of music reflects his belief that learning and performing together build meaningful connections.

One of the things Mark appreciates most about Renbrook is the way faculty, staff, and parents support one another for the benefit of students. He embraces the spirit of collaboration captured in his favorite lyric from The Beatles: “And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make.”
