Marianne Michailow

Mathematics; Grade 8 Co-Coordinator; MATHCOUNTS Coach; Yearbook Advisor

Providence College - B.A.

Marianne Michailow joined Renbrook School in 1996 and has been inspiring Upper School mathematicians ever since. She teaches honors and regular level mathematics to students in grades 6, 7, and 8 and serves as Grade 8 Co-Coordinator and Advisor, MATHCOUNTS Coach, and Yearbook Advisor.

Marianne holds a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from Providence College. Prior to her time at Renbrook, she taught middle school math and computer science at Holy Cross School in New Britain, Connecticut, and junior high math at Saint Patrick Grammar School in Watertown, Massachusetts.

Marianne teaches because she believes in the lasting impact that strong relationships and meaningful learning can have on a student’s life. She is motivated by the daily moments when students overcome challenges, gain confidence, and discover what they are capable of. Teaching, she believes, aligns with her strengths and values and allows her to contribute meaningfully to her community.

She values Renbrook’s close-knit community, the investment students and families make in learning, and the trust she is given to use her professional judgment and creativity in the classroom. She works to support students beyond academics by helping them build communication skills, resilience, time management, collaboration, and a sense of ownership over their choices.

Outside of school, Marianne enjoys golfing, word games, cards, and logic puzzles. She is especially proud of achieving two holes in one on different courses. Her philosophy is reflected in the words of Albert Einstein: “Education is not the learning of facts, but the training of the mind to think.
