Lisa Terwilliger

Since joining Renbrook in 2012, Lisa Terwilliger has been a steady, trusted presence in the Upper School. As Registrar and Upper School Assistant, she works behind the scenes to keep the division running smoothly while serving as a warm and approachable resource for students and families. With a Bachelor of Arts in English and creative writing from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and more than 30 years of professional experience, Lisa brings both precision and heart to her role.

Her responsibilities are wide-ranging and essential. She manages calendars and schedules, maintains student records, coordinates commencement, assists with confidential secondary school placement materials, organizes and hosts clubs, and serves as a member of Renbrook’s Emergency Team. Her earlier career included work in higher education at North Carolina State University and the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, as well as corporate leadership support at Gerber Scientific, where she worked closely with senior executives and prepared confidential board-level materials. This breadth of experience gives her a unique perspective and deep professionalism.

What Lisa treasures most about working at Renbrook is the students. She loves their enthusiasm and humor and appreciates that even on the hardest days, there is a great deal of joy in the work. She believes in being present for students in small but meaningful ways, whether by offering thoughtful advice or simply asking if they need to vent. Those everyday interactions are what make her role so fulfilling.

Outside of school, Lisa’s love of reading is legendary. She rereads her favorite book, The Catcher in the Rye, every year and can often be found with a novel, crossword puzzle, or book in hand. She also enjoys biking, hiking, and spending time with her husband, daughter, and dog. During her college years, she played rugby for a team called The Flying Squirrels, reflecting the adventurous spirit she still carries today.
