Kim Dansin

Hamilton College - B.A.
Since joining Renbrook in 2018, Kim Dansin has brought intellectual curiosity and creative energy to her work as an Upper School teacher of World Language and Mathematics. She serves students in Grades 5 through 8 and also acts as Sixth Grade Coordinator, guiding students through an important year of growth and transition. Kim earned her B.A. in Classical Languages and Neuroscience from Hamilton College in 2016. She began her professional journey with Teach For America in Idaho, where she taught math and science to middle school students, an experience that strengthened her commitment to student-centered learning and thoughtful instruction.
At Renbrook, Kim primarily teaches Latin and has crafted a dynamic program built around immersion and context. Using the Lingua Latina Per Se Illustrata text series and the natural method, she models language acquisition through extensive reading and cultural integration rather than isolated grammar drills. Her students explore not only the language but the broader ancient world, engaging in projects on Roman villas, the Punic Wars, gladiators, and even modern retellings of classical myths such as Hadestown. She delights in discovering what captures each student’s imagination, whether building a model villa or debating Greek monsters.
In her role as Sixth Grade Coordinator and advisor, Kim supports students’ academic and social transition into Upper School. She organizes field trips, buddy programs, and grade-level initiatives such as belonging groups and Let Grow, creating opportunities for students to better understand themselves and one another. She feels fortunate to work within Renbrook’s welcoming and collaborative community, where she is free to experiment, iterate, and partner with colleagues who share a deep commitment to student growth.
Kim’s love of education is rooted in gratitude for the inspiring teachers she once had and a desire to pass that inspiration forward. Outside of school, she enjoys reading classic literature, baking, photography, and drawing. She speaks Spanish, French, and Latin and treasures time with her husband, their two children, and their sweet, deaf cat. A fun fact about Kim is that she is one of six siblings, with five younger brothers and sisters. Her favorite books include The Iliad, War and Peace, and To the Lighthouse, works that reflect her lifelong love of language and storytelling
