James Madison University - B.S.

Kathy Greene has been a valued member of Renbrook’s Beginning School since 2012, where she serves as a Junior Kindergarten Teacher. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education from James Madison University and brings an impressive range of certifications and professional training to her work. Her credentials include professional teaching licenses in Virginia and Georgia, Department of Defense teaching certification, and advanced training in Singapore Math, Wilson Language/Fundations, Responsive Classroom, Handwriting Without Tears, and Columbia Teachers’ College Reading and Writing Project. She has also completed postgraduate studies at the University of Hawaii, the University of Virginia, and Old Dominion University.

Before joining Renbrook, Kathy taught kindergarten and first grade in Virginia, Georgia, Hawaii, and Naples, Italy. These diverse experiences have shaped her global perspective and deep understanding of early childhood development.

Kathy teaches all domains of early childhood education, working with four, five, and six-year-olds during some of the most formative years of their lives. She is deeply committed to lifelong learning and to fostering a classroom environment where children feel safe, valued, and encouraged to grow independently. She believes that developmentally responsive teaching must honor each child’s unique interests and strengths, ensuring that every student knows they matter within their learning community.

At the heart of her philosophy is a simple truth: she teaches because she believes in children.
Kathy treasures the strong relationships she builds with students, parents, and colleagues at Renbrook. Outside of school, she enjoys snow skiing, paddleboarding, going to the beach, watercolor painting, gardening, cooking, reading, and traveling. A memorable adventure includes paddleboarding alongside the wild ponies of Chincoteague Island. She shares her love of the outdoors with her two sons and her Labrador retriever, who occasionally joins her on the paddleboard.
