Josh Guilmartin

Junior Kindergarten Partner Teacher

Elms College - B.A.

Josh Guilmartin became part of the Renbrook community in 2023 and serves as a Junior Kindergarten Partner Teacher in the Beginning School. He holds a BA from Elms College with a minor in Coaching and earned his Master of Education in Early Childhood Education from the University of Hartford. His professional training includes PreK Fundations and Responsive Classroom, both of which support his commitment to nurturing strong academic and social foundations in young children.

Teaching is deeply personal for Josh. As one of three educators in his family, he grew up understanding the impact teachers can have on a child’s life. His own experience with a caring second and third-grade teacher who made him feel supported during both struggles and successes left a lasting impression. Seeing that teacher again before leaving for college reaffirmed his desire to make a similar difference for children in his own classroom.

In his work with Junior Kindergarten students, Josh focuses on helping children build the foundation for who they will become, not only as learners but as people. He believes education extends beyond academics and places strong emphasis on social and emotional growth. He guides students in problem-solving, empathy, collaboration, and responsibility, helping them become confident and compassionate members of their community. Each day, he strives to create a classroom environment where children feel safe, valued, and encouraged to take risks in their learning.

Josh is also an active member of the broader Renbrook community. He coaches JV Boys Basketball and Varsity Baseball and works with Renbrook School Summer Adventure. A former college baseball player, he continues to carry a deep passion for the sport and enjoys golfing in his free time. As the oldest of three siblings, he values family deeply and shares his home with his parents, his brother and sister, and their mini goldendoodle.
