University of Connecticut - M.A.Ed., University of Connecticut - B.S.Ed.
Jessica Wawzyniecki has served as Lower School STEM Teacher at Renbrook since 2018, working with students in Grades 1 through 4 to cultivate a love of science and discovery. With degrees from the University of Connecticut, a BS and M.Ed., she brings both academic expertise and practical experience from her time teaching in Hartford Public Schools and serving as Director of Education at St. Mary’s Home.
Jess’s passion for science and the natural world is the foundation of her teaching philosophy. She believes curiosity and wonder are the natural states of a child’s mind, and her role as an educator is to create an environment where that instinct can flourish. Rather than beginning with abstract explanations, she invites students to observe, explore, and question. Whether outdoors on Renbrook’s campus or engaging directly with materials from nature, students develop scientific reasoning by moving from simple observation to deeper inquiry.
Her goal is not only to teach scientific concepts, but to nurture critical thinkers who respect and care for the environment. She strives to create a classroom that reflects the best qualities of the natural world: diverse, interconnected, and constantly growing. By building authentic relationships and leading with curiosity, she ensures students feel safe, valued, and empowered to take intellectual risks.
Outside of school, Jess teaches yoga at a local studio and enjoys cooking, reading, music, and hiking in New Hampshire with her children and their dog.
