Jessica Anastasio

Learning Specialist; Life, Learning, & Leadership

University of Saint Joseph - M.A., Central Connecticut State University - B.A.

Jessica Anastasio became part of the Renbrook community in 2022 as the Upper School Learning Specialist, supporting students in Grades 5 through 8 while also teaching on the Life, Learning, and Leadership Team and serving as a 6th Grade Advisor. She is a Connecticut-certified Special Education teacher with a Master of Arts in Special Education and Teacher Licensure from the University of Saint Joseph and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, earned cum laude, from Central Connecticut State University.

Jessica began her educational career in the Simsbury Public School system, where she served as a case manager for eighth-grade students before expanding her work to the elementary level. In these roles, she developed and implemented individualized education plans, administered educational assessments, analyzed and synthesized student data, monitored progress, and collaborated with families and colleagues during Planning and Placement Team meetings. She provided direct, specialized instruction tailored to meet the unique needs of each student, always focused on helping them build skills and confidence.

Before entering the public school system, Jessica was deeply involved in the world of competitive figure skating. As a coach, she provided both individual and group instruction to skaters of all ages and levels, designing on and off-ice training programs that emphasized discipline, motivation, and self-confidence. She also served as the summer program director at the International Skating Center of Connecticut, where she managed large-scale programming, marketing, staffing, housing coordination, and compliance. A fun fact she shares with students is that she once successfully performed a triple loop and a triple salchow, achievements that reflect her dedication and work ethic.

Jessica works in education to inspire children to believe in themselves and their dreams. She firmly believes that every child can learn and deserves meaningful, engaging opportunities to do so. Her goal is to build confidence in each student, equipping them with strategies to set both short-term and long-term goals that lead to success. She believes deeply in the power of relationships, taking time to learn about her students’ interests, attend their activities, play board games, and celebrate their accomplishments. Through these connections, students feel seen, supported, and genuinely cared for.
What she loves most about Renbrook is its commitment to bringing learning to life through authentic relationships and a whole child approach. She values the opportunity to see each child for who they are and honor what they contribute to the community. Inspired by the words of Booker T. Washington and Joe Paterno, she encourages students to work hard, believe in themselves, and trust that they are destined to do great things.

Outside of school, Jessica enjoys figure skating, skiing, running, hiking, reading, watching her boys play baseball, spending time with family, and being outdoors in her yard.
