Emily’s career spans a range of educational settings. She taught fifth grade for eight years in both upstate New York and New York City, gaining valuable experience in diverse school communities. She then served as a math interventionist in West Hartford Public Schools for seven years and taught Quest and Math Quest for two years, strengthening her ability to differentiate instruction and support students across a wide range of learning needs.
In her sixth-grade Humanities classroom, Emily focuses on helping students grow into critical thinkers and effective communicators. She believes strongly in shaping the minds of future generations by teaching students how to analyze complex ideas, collaborate thoughtfully, and write with clarity and purpose. At the same time, she prioritizes teaching executive functioning skills, guiding students to organize their materials, manage their time, and advocate for their needs with both adults and peers.
Emily is deeply invested in the broader school community. She serves as Student Council Assistant Advisor, Cross Country Assistant Coach, JV Tennis Coach, and Director’s Assistant for the musical. She treasures the relationships she builds with students and appreciates working alongside what she describes as truly awesome colleagues.
Outside of school, Emily enjoys tennis, live music, movies, and cross-country skiing. She once competed as a bicycle racer, a fun fact that speaks to her drive and adventurous spirit. Her favorite book, Cloud Cuckoo Land, reflects her appreciation for powerful storytelling and the enduring impact of literature.
