Elissa Mauke
Grade 3

University of Vermont - B.S., Chestnut Hill College - M.Ed.
Elissa Mauke joined Renbrook School in 2015 and serves as a Grade 3 teacher in the Lower School. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and a Master of Education in Elementary and Special Education with a focus on Reading Science. She is Orton Gillingham trained and holds Special Education certification, bringing deep expertise in literacy development and differentiated instruction to her classroom.
Prior to Renbrook, Elissa taught at the Center School in Philadelphia, a school serving students with dyslexia, where she strengthened her skills in structured literacy and individualized support. She also taught second grade at CREC Discovery Academy.
In third grade, Elissa guides students through meaningful academic growth across writing, reading, math, and social studies. Her students build strong sentences, craft persuasive and opinion pieces, explore character traits and inferences, and deepen their understanding of place value, fractions, geometry, and more. She encourages students to take risks, persevere through challenges, and embrace mistakes as opportunities to learn.
Elissa believes that strong relationships are the foundation for meaningful learning. She works intentionally to create a classroom community rooted in empathy, self-awareness, and respect. Her goal is for every child to feel seen, supported, and believed in. When children feel believed in, they begin to believe in themselves.
Beyond the classroom, Elissa has served on the Writing and Social Studies Committees, is a New Faculty Mentor, and is serving as the Board of Trustees Faculty Representative for the 2025-26 school year. She values Renbrook’s inspiring campus and the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues who continually support and learn from one another.
