Carley Elkin

Carley Elkin joined Renbrook in Fall 2022 as Assistant Athletic Director and Physical Education Teacher, bringing a deep commitment to movement, outdoor education, and student development. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Movement and Sports Studies with a concentration in Adventure Education and a Master of Science in Advanced Pedagogy from Springfield College. Her professional journey includes leadership roles in outdoor learning centers, summer camp programs, school health education, and athletic administration.

Before arriving at Renbrook, Carley served as an Adventure Coordinator and Challenge Course Director at a YMCA Outdoor Learning Center in New York, Teen Programs Director at YMCA Camp Talcott, Health Teacher and Student Assistant Program Coordinator in New Hampshire, and Athletic Director in Vermont. These experiences shaped her belief that physical education and athletics are powerful platforms for character building and personal growth.

At Renbrook, Carley teaches Physical Education for students from Preschool through Grade 5 and coaches athletics for Grades 5 through 8, with a particular focus on skiing, snowboarding, and lacrosse. She is passionate about integrating outdoor education into the curriculum, providing students with meaningful opportunities to challenge themselves, build resilience, and connect with nature.

Carley believes that quality physical education is critical to the development of a well-rounded individual. She approaches her work with empathy, high expectations, and strong advocacy, greeting students with understanding while encouraging them to rise to high standards of character and effort. Through sports and movement, she strives to help students grow in spirit, mind, and body, preparing them for lifelong health and success.

She loves Renbrook’s strong sense of community, where students, families, and faculty know one another and share a deep sense of belonging. Outside of school, Carley enjoys spending time with her wife and daughter, reading, practicing Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and exploring the outdoors through canoeing, rock climbing, snowboarding, and camping. She played lacrosse as a goalie at Springfield College, has backpacked Mount Marcy in the Adirondacks, and holds a blue belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Her favorite books include Man’s Search for Meaning by Viktor Frankl and Extreme Ownership by Jocko Willink.
