Camila Cuenca Pina joined Renbrook in 2011 and has since dedicated herself to nurturing young language learners in the Lower School. As a Spanish teacher for Grades 1 through 4, she creates immersive, engaging lessons that introduce students not only to the Spanish language but also to the vibrant cultures and traditions of Spanish-speaking countries. Her goal is to lay a strong foundation for language learning while inspiring curiosity about the wider world.

Camila’s academic background reflects her global perspective. She earned a Master’s Degree in Spanish Language and Culture from Universidad Pontificia de Salamanca. She also completed postgraduate studies in Law with a concentration in Borders and Human Rights at Universidade Federal da Grande Dourados and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Social Sciences with a focus on Tourism in Natural Environments. She is a certified ESL teacher and has extensive experience teaching both Spanish and English to students of various ages.

Before joining Renbrook, Camila taught ESL and Spanish in Brazil at language schools, community outreach programs, and lower school divisions. In the United States, she has worked as an interpreter in Spanish, Portuguese, and English and provided enrichment classes for schools in the Hartford area. Her international experience informs her commitment to fostering empathy, cultural understanding, and global citizenship in her students.

Camila works in education because she believes that helping a child grow academically and emotionally gives her life meaning and purpose. She treasures the moments when students gain confidence, experience wonder, and discover their own potential. In her classroom, she cultivates a respectful and inclusive environment where diverse perspectives are valued, and creativity is encouraged.

In addition to her classroom teaching, Camila supports the school’s DEI efforts and leads the Latin Rhythms Club and AP Spanish Club. Outside of school, she enjoys Latin dance, playing Spanish guitar, traveling, and reading. She shares her home with her sweet rottweiler. Camila is fluent in Spanish, Portuguese, and English, and brings her multilingual and multicultural perspective to every aspect of her work at Renbrook.
