Suffolk University - B.A.
Blair Lachance joined Renbrook School in 2023 as a World Language Instructor, teaching Spanish to students in Grades 5 through 8. She also serves as a sixth-grade advisor, a certified ropes instructor during the spring and fall seasons, and host of Minecraft Club.
Blair earned her B.A. in Spanish from Suffolk University, with minors in sociology and advertising. She is trained in Responsive Classroom and Comprehensible Input for language learners and holds ropes course certification under William Sullivan.
Her passion for language and culture began during a high school exchange program in Spain, an experience that sparked a lifelong love of Spanish and global connection. She later returned to Spain to teach ESL at La Universidad de Castilla La Mancha in Talavera de la Reina. Over the years, she has taught Spanish across multiple grade levels, served as an advisor, and coordinated outdoor education programs, bringing together language learning, experiential education, and relationship building.
In her classroom, Blair strives to create a joyful and welcoming environment where students feel comfortable taking risks and exploring new ideas. She encourages curiosity about the world beyond Renbrook’s campus and fosters meaningful connections to culture through conversation and reading. She supports students by providing additional Spanish books for free reading and hosting optional Spanish lunches to strengthen confidence and community through language.
Blair grew up in West Hartford and values the strong ties she maintains with her local family. Outside of school, she enjoys domestic and international travel, hiking, skating on her pond in the winter, and reading. A former long-distance runner, she has completed half marathons, marathons, and ultramarathons. She lives by the words, “You must do one thing every day that scares you,” embracing both adventure and growth in her life and in her teaching.
