Auxiliary Programs Coordinator

Renbrook School (West Hartford, CT), an independent day school for children age three to grade eight, currently seeks an experienced professional to fill the full-time position of Auxiliary Programs Coordinator.

The Auxiliary Programs Coordinator reports to the Director of Auxiliary Programs and is responsible for all aspects of the Renbrook School Child Care Program, which includes the Before-School Program, After-School Program, Vacation Care, and After-School Adventures Programs. The Coordinator also assists with the programmatic and administrative responsibilities of other auxiliary programs at the school, including the Renbrook School Summer Adventure Program, the school’s Challenge Course, and turf field. The Auxiliary Programs Coordinator hires, develops, and manages adult staff members and guides the children in their care, ensuring a safe, enriching, and healthy learning environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Auxiliary Programs Coordinator must possess the competencies, skills, and proven leadership ability to successfully carry out Renbrook School’s mission and vision. The Auxiliary Programs Coordinator will be responsible for the following:

Administer the day-to-day operation of the Before-School, After-School, After-School Adventures, and Vacation Care programs.

  • Hire, train, and supervise all Child Care Program employees and ensure that staff follow prescribed duties and responsibilities, providing feedback, and corrective action plans where necessary.
  • Maintain, update, and use a variety of software applications to register students, communicate with families and schedule building usage.
  • Create and distribute marketing materials with support from the Communications Director and the Director of Auxiliary Programs.
  • Evaluate program quality and fidelity and ensure that staff are planning appealing and meaningful programs and activities.
  • Prepare and monitor staff schedules at all times, modifying as necessary to maintain appropriate staff-to-child ratios.
  • Ensure the maintenance of accurate group records, including attendance and daily updates.

Assist the Director of Auxiliary Programs with the administration of Renbrook’s Auxiliary Programs:

  • Support program development and administrative functions for Renbrook’s Summer Adventure Program.
  • Communicate as needed with parents and staff at all levels within the organization.
  • Promote a team concept through a positive approach to supervision, communication, and interactions with others.
  • Facilitate a campus environment that invites creativity, promotes initiative, and supports staff.
  • Assume other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in education or related field.
  2. A minimum of four years of relevant experience working with children under the age of 13 in a school or after-school setting preferred, including at least two years in an administrative supervisory capacity with demonstrated decision-making ability.
  3. Exceptional organizational, group management, problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
  4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills appropriate for interacting with both children and adults.
  5. Demonstrate flexibility, with the ability to adapt to changing circumstances.
