Physical Education

Springfield College - B.S., Springfield College - M.S.

Kevin Mirando joined Renbrook in 2024 as a Physical Education Teacher and Coach. Working with students from Preschool through Grade 5, he is committed to helping children build confidence, teamwork, and a lifelong appreciation for movement and healthy activity.

Kevin earned both his Bachelor of Science in Movement and Sports Studies and his Master of Science in Advanced Pedagogy in Physical Education from Springfield College. He holds professional licensure in Physical Education for PK–8 and 5–12. While completing his graduate studies, he wrote a thesis titled “The Impact of Camp Experiences on the Occupational Socialization of Physical Education Teachers,” inspired by his own experiences as a camp counselor and student teacher.

Kevin began his professional journey at Camp Winadu in the Berkshires in 2015, a community he describes as his summer home. Now entering his twelfth summer there as a group leader, he continues to refine his leadership and coaching skills. He began his teaching career in Holyoke, Massachusetts, at a dual language school serving grades PK–5, where he taught for five years before joining Renbrook.
As an educator and coach, Kevin takes pride in helping student athletes challenge themselves to grow stronger, more coordinated, and more confident. He also recognizes that physical education is about more than skill development. In both PE classes and on the field, he intentionally creates space for students to practice emotional regulation, teamwork, and perseverance.

Kevin believes that discovering a love for physical activity can enrich every aspect of a child’s development. His favorite quote reflects his mindset as both an educator and learner: “Each day, try to become a little less perfect and a little braver.”
