Julie Schlossinger, EdD, joined Renbrook in 2018 and serves as Associate Head of School and Lower School Head. She holds a BA in Writing from East Carolina University, an MSEd in Educational Leadership from Bank Street College of Education, and an EdD in Educational Leadership from the University of Hartford. Her career spans a wide range of roles in independent education, including multi-age classroom teacher, preschool and kindergarten teacher, Grade Four teacher, Head of Upper School, Head of Lower School, and Associate Head of School.
As Lower School Head, Julie guides a vibrant community of teachers and learners during some of the most formative years of childhood. Her work centers on ensuring that every child and teacher is known, valued, and inspired. She stewards curriculum development, mentors and coaches faculty, and cultivates joyful classrooms where curiosity thrives, academic foundations are strengthened, and character is intentionally developed.
In her role as Associate Head of School, Julie partners closely with the Head of School to steward Renbrook’s mission and daily life. She collaborates with faculty across divisions to strengthen teaching practice, advance innovation, and ensure that rigorous and joyful learning go hand in hand. She believes that leadership is grounded in relationships and that thriving school communities are built on trust, partnership, and genuine care.
Julie is deeply committed to supporting students beyond academics. She works to ensure that every child feels seen, heard, and valued, and that social-emotional learning is woven intentionally into daily routines, classroom meetings, and community norms. She champions early leadership opportunities for students and encourages initiative, collaboration, and respectful self-advocacy. Through open communication and strong partnerships with families, she helps sustain a holistic and consistent approach to each child’s growth.
What Julie loves most about Renbrook are the strong and caring relationships that define the community. She believes leadership is about purpose, integrity, and modeling a growth mindset. Inspired by Michelangelo’s words, “I am still learning,” she approaches each day with curiosity and humility. Outside of school, Julie enjoys gardening, cooking, Pilates, travel, and spending time with her son, a proud Renbrook graduate. She also shares a fun personal passion: she loves cars.
