Joe Keach-Longo
Grade 5 Teacher

University of Saint Joseph - M.A., Goddard College - B.A.
Joe Keach-Longo joined Renbrook in 2023 as a 5th Grade Teacher in the Upper School. He holds a B.A. in Theatre Arts and 20th Century Gay History from Goddard College and an M.A. in Elementary Education with a focus on Reading and Language Arts from the University of Saint Joseph. He is certified in Elementary Education in the State of Connecticut.
Joe brings a wide range of experience to his classroom. Prior to joining Renbrook, he worked for seven years as an Educational Special Needs Para in West Hartford Public Schools and spent five years as a fourth-grade teacher in Windsor Public Schools. These roles deepened his commitment to differentiated instruction and meeting students where they are.
At the heart of Joe’s teaching philosophy is the belief that strong relationships drive meaningful learning. He believes educators must go beyond knowing students’ interests to understanding how each child learns, processes information, and responds to encouragement and challenge. Through collaborative, inquiry-based, and student-led learning, he creates a classroom environment that feels safe, supportive, and intellectually engaging. Students are encouraged to think critically, question assumptions, make predictions, and solve problems in ways that align with their strengths.
Joe also believes that curriculum should function as both a mirror and a window. Students should see their own identities and experiences reflected in what they learn, while also gaining insight into perspectives different from their own. By fostering inclusive dialogue and encouraging students to question stereotypes and think deeply about history and identity, he supports their growth as thoughtful and empathetic citizens. He serves as Co-Advisor to the Student Diversity and Belonging Council, further extending this work beyond the classroom.
Joe values Renbrook’s sense of family among students, families, and faculty. Outside of school, he enjoys theatre, camping, and spending time in nature with his husband, son, and their three dogs. A fun fact: he can tap dance, though he modestly admits he is still working on perfecting the skill.
