Derek Ali

Derek Ali has been an integral part of the Renbrook community since 2007, serving as On-Site Manager in the Facilities Department. With a strong foundation in vocational training and professional certifications in masonry, steel work, construction, and pool maintenance, Derek brings both technical expertise and steady leadership to his role. His diverse work history includes service in the Trinidad Army, experience in steel and construction, and maintenance work at Jumoke Academy, all of which prepared him to oversee the daily operations of Renbrook’s campus.

Derek’s work touches every part of school life. From maintaining heating and lighting systems to ensuring that buildings and grounds remain safe, clean, and fully operational, he works behind the scenes so that teachers can focus on their instruction and students can concentrate on their learning. He manages the cleaning staff, serves as a member of the school’s security team, and steps in wherever support is needed. His guiding priority is creating a safe, comfortable environment where the entire community can thrive.

He finds great joy in being part of education because he witnesses children blossom and grow into whatever they have dreamed of becoming. The family-oriented culture at Renbrook is especially meaningful to him. With two of his own children as Renbrook alumni, Derek’s connection to the school runs deep. He believes strongly that at Renbrook, everyone is family.

Beyond his professional life, Derek enjoys music and cherishes time with his wife, their three children, and their Bichpoo. Many are surprised to learn that he once ran track professionally for Trinidad and Tobago, a testament to his discipline and determination. Grounded by his favorite words, “Just smile and move on,” Derek brings positivity, resilience, and heart to the Renbrook community every day.
