Dave Blodgett

Academic Technology Coordinator; A.V. Systems Coordinator; Life, Learning, & Leadership

Ohio Wesleyan University - B.A.

Since 1993, Dave Blodgett has been a steady and innovative presence at Renbrook, serving as Academic Technology Coordinator in the Information Technology Department. With a BA in Humanities and Classics from Ohio Wesleyan University, Dave began his career as a teacher of Linguistics and History at St James Episcopal School in Texas. His background in the classroom continues to shape the way he approaches technology, always with an educator’s perspective and a commitment to meaningful learning.

Dave’s work touches nearly every corner of campus. He helps students and employees navigate their technology tools, manages the school’s network and administrative systems, and oversees a wide range of computers and hardware. He carefully vets and coordinates educational technology, administrative platforms, and assistive software subscriptions, ensuring that each tool supports Renbrook’s mission and instructional goals. He provides training and ongoing support so that faculty and staff feel confident and empowered in their work.

Much of Dave’s direct student engagement centers on Grades 5 through 8, where he supports digital and media literacy through curricular collaboration and direct instruction. He also leads RenTech, a cross-grade Upper School apprenticeship program that trains students in technical theater. Through this program, students gain hands-on experience running sound and lighting for musicals and major school events, building practical skills, confidence, and teamwork at an early age.

In addition to his technology leadership, Dave provides audiovisual and technical theater support for school productions and events, serves on the AI Strategic Committee, and collaborates with Facilities staff on network-dependent systems such as security and HVAC. His ability to bridge instructional, technical, and operational needs makes him an essential connector within the community.
Dave works in education because he loves helping people learn and improve at what they do. He appreciates Renbrook’s family feel and the collaborative spirit of colleagues who approach challenges with a “yes, and” mindset. A fun fact about Dave is that he has taught several current and recent members of the Renbrook faculty and staff, a testament to his long-standing impact on the school.

Outside of work, Dave enjoys making music, creating art, and practicing mindfulness. He speaks English and some French and is guided by the wisdom of Pema Chödrön: “Inner peace begins with the moment you choose not to allow another person or event to control your emotions.”
