Abbey Mazella

Elms College - B.A.

Abbey Mazella joined Renbrook School in Fall 2019 as an Upper School Mathematics and Science Teacher, working with students in grades 6 through 8. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry from Elms College and previously spent four years in West Hartford Public Schools as a Math Intervention Specialist, where she supported students in strengthening their mathematical foundations and confidence.

Abbey teaches because of her deep love of learning and her passion for helping students experience success. She believes that every child can grow with the right encouragement and support, and she works intentionally to create a classroom environment where curiosity is celebrated and challenges are embraced as opportunities. As someone who is dyslexic, she brings personal understanding to her work, modeling resilience and reinforcing the message that learning differences do not limit potential.

Beyond the classroom, Abbey is a dedicated three-season coach in field hockey, girls’ basketball, and softball. She treasures the chance to see students shine in different settings, whether scoring a game-winning goal, making the final out on the softball field, or confidently taking a last-second shot. These moments, along with the everyday connections built through coaching, strengthen the relationships that define her work at Renbrook.

She loves Renbrook’s small, tightly connected community and the genuine care shared among students and faculty. Outside of school, Abbey enjoys reading, needlepoint, cheering on the Red Sox, and spending time with her husband and their young son.
