Celebrating Excellence in Education: 2025 Cramphin Award Recipients

At the heart of Renbrook School is a deep commitment to excellence in teaching, dedication to community, and the belief that educators shape lives far beyond the classroom. Each year, that spirit is honored through the Jane and Doug Cramphin Excellence in Education Award, a meaningful tradition recognizing faculty and staff who go above and beyond in their service to students and colleagues.
Jane and Doug Cramphin, beloved members of the Renbrook community since 1977, devoted nearly four decades to the school. During their tenure, they taught, coached, led, and inspired thousands of students while building a legacy grounded in care, collaboration, and innovation. After their retirement in 2013, a heartfelt gift from the extended Renbrook community inspired them to âpay it forwardâ by establishing the Cramphin Award, which continues to be funded by the coupleâs generous contributions. To date, 23 awards have been presented to outstanding educators and staff.
This year, Renbrook is proud to recognize two exceptional individuals as the 2025 Cramphin Award recipients: Eleanor Strumulo, Mathematics Department Head, and Aidan Guzman, member of the Buildings & Grounds and Renbrook Plus teams.
Eleanor Strumulo: Cultivating Confidence Through Mathematics

Described by colleagues and students alike as âan incredible educator,â Eleanor Strumulo brings clarity, creativity, and compassion to her mathematics classroom. With a deep belief that âmathematics is a language,â Eleanor ensures every student finds an entry pointâwhether through her engaging “mild, medium, and spicy” differentiated lessons or through the welcoming environment she so thoughtfully curates.
Peers praise her for inspiring confidence in students who once doubted their mathematical abilities and for forging strong partnerships with families through clear, open communication. Eleanorâs classroom is alive with thoughtful inquiry, risk-taking, and collaboration. Her impact stretches far beyond math conceptsâshe teaches students to believe in themselves and persist through challenge. Renbrook is honored to celebrate her leadership and dedication.
Aidan Guzman: A Steady Presence and Everyday Hero

Aidan Guzman is widely recognized for his boundless energy, unwavering kindness, and deep sense of responsibility. Whether assisting with a Facilities emergency, lending a hand in Renbrook Plus, or guiding a young child to their classroom, Aidan brings calm, compassion, and joy to every interaction. Students adore him. Colleagues depend on him. Parents trust him.
From clearing playground hazards to repairing sports equipment, his quiet heroism is legendary. âAidan is someone who runs into the fire to help,â shared one nominator. Another quoted Fred Rogers: âWhen you are scared or worried, look for the helpers.â Aidan is that helper. His thoughtful professionalism and tireless dedication make him a true cornerstone of the Renbrook community.
In celebration of his many âsuperpowers,â Aidan was presented with a custom Super-Power Capeâa small token of gratitude for the extraordinary role he plays in so many lives.
