Fueled by a tradition of innovation, self-discovery, and the pursuit of excellence, Renbrook School places students at the center of their learning.
We educate and inspire students to develop the character, knowledge, and creativity to lead in an increasingly global and inclusive world.
In a nurturing community, Renbrook students gain the skills and dispositions of engaged, life-long learners.
We Are Renbrook 2020
Value Statement
Renbrook School prizes respect, integrity, empathy, tenacity, and service to others. We believe in the power of a supportive community to effectively instill these values in our students.
Vision of a Renbrook Graduate
As the result of a series of faculty and staff meetings in the fall of 2016 designed to identify attributes that we at Renbrook School aspired for our graduates to possess, this list was created. The second part of the exercise then was to begin to brainstorm unique and effective ways that the adult leaders here at the school could shape the culture within the school to intentionally develop these attributes in students at all grade levels. Each teacher heard the ideas of their colleagues and committed to actualizing the best of those ideas in ways that would be appropriate at each grade level in each discipline.
These ten attributes represent our ideal for a Renbrook student. In our community students strive to achieve this ideal with guidance from their teachers and parents. Their journey to improve is what we feel is most important.
The Attributes
- Will N. '18
"Being innovative is important because being able to think outside the box can lead to a greater form of an idea."
- Nathan C. '18
"The ability to be resilient is important because it is crucial to recover from a challenging situation and continue to strive towards a goal. Even with setbacks, a resilient person would not allow for that to stop him or her from reaching an objective."
- Taylor H. '18
"To be resourceful is to be able to quickly come up with a clever solution to overcome a conflict. It is using initiative in situations and allows you to create, evaluate, observe, and analyze solutions to overcome the difficulties."
- Cole A. '18
"A socially adept student is one who encompasses the ability to evaluate the situation himself and react to that situation accordingly. Being a socially adept human allows one to make life's sour lemons into sweet lemonade."
- Nathan C. '18
"Being globally literate is important because understanding and accepting other people and their culture is crucial in a diverse society."
- Taylor H. '18
"Self-awareness is an important quality that allows you to be conscious of your strengths, weaknesses, desires, and emotions and use these qualities in real-life situations. It's significant for graduates to have because with this characteristic you can take better care of yourself, have more meaningful relationships, and just overall be a better you."
- Sophie G. '18
"Eloquence means being able to communicate your thoughts and opinions in a clear and articulate manner. Eloquence is important because it allows people to explain their ideas and help situations go smoothly. When everyone is aware of what is being discussed, they can contribute their own ideas in an equally eloquent manner."
- Juliana C. '18
"A Renbrook student is taught to do the right thing and not to take advantage of other people. This is important because everyone should have people in the world they can trust, people who are ethical and trustworthy."
- Giovanni C. '18
"Curiosity is what drives one to understand and discover more about our world."
- Sophie G. '18
"When a student is courageous, he/she takes risks and steps outside his/her comfort zone. It is important for students to be courageous because it allows them to learn about new subjects and discover parts of themselves they never knew existed."
