Owls Division Grades 3 & 4

Owls enjoy camp with more freedom as they begin to individualize their schedule with Free Choice. Owls will have scheduled activities and daily swim lessons with their group in the mornings, followed by afternoon Free Choice. Owls scheduled activities will include archery, woodworking, tennis, gymnastics, ceramics, art, rocketry, and nature exploration. Their afternoon Free Choice will include additional time in favorite activities created by Owls Division Head counselors. Owls also may choose Jr. Musical Theater as part of their camp day.

Owls Schedule Highlights
  • Daily swim lessons
  • Morning of scheduled activities with their group, including PE, gymnastics, rocketry, nature, woodworking, archery, and more!
  • Afternoon filled with participation in our Free Choice Program as well as an optional free swim
  • Participation in camp-wide activities and Special Thursdays.

Free Choice Program
Beginning in the Owls Division, campers participate in the Free Choice Program. At the beginning of each week, all campers are given two choices from a list of 15-20 activities and sports that are incorporated into their afternoon program along with free swimming. This is a favorite feature for many campers because they make their own decisions and they may change their activities each week.

Tennis
Tennis is a fun-filled, exciting program that helps build confidence and technique in a safe group setting. Beginning in third grade, campers are given individual instruction in forehand, backhand, and serve. The emphasis is on technique as well as playing games. Additional time may be selected during the afternoon Free Choice Program. Campers may bring their own racket or use the camp rackets.

Archery
Under the guidance of a certified instructor, small groups are given individual instruction using Recurve Bows and fiberglass arrows for optimum performance. Campers may qualify for awards using the National Junior Archery Development Program. Archery teaches skills such as hand-eye coordination, perseverance, self-control, and mental discipline - and it’s fun!

Rocketry
Campers will receive an introduction to rocketry by building their own rocket under the guidance of our staff. At the end of each session, campers will be ready to launch their rockets on the athletic fields.
