Renbrook's safe and beautiful campus is home to our remarkable Preschool and Junior kindergarten program, “The Early Learning Center.” This school-within-a-school features two offerings, the Preschool program for three and four-year-olds and Junior Kindergarten for four and five-year-olds.
Many of the most crucial skills children need to be life-long learners are established during the earliest years of school. At Renbrook we strive to promote positive learning dispositions such as: creativity, curiosity, perseverance, resilience and initiative. We recognize the important connection between cognitive growth and social interaction. Across our curriculum, teachers incorporate the Responsive Classroom
approach into instruction, emphasizing social, emotional and academic growth within a strong school community.
The Preschool and Junior Kindergarten curriculum starts with strengthening the skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing - elements of their literacy development. Children learn mathematics, science and social studies through hands-on exploration and projects. They are exposed to Spanish right from the start. Preschool and Junior Kindergarten students enjoy classes in the arts, music and movement, world language, physical education and library; they have full access to the school's two gymnasiums, playgrounds, nature trails, the pond and other highlights of the large campus. In addition, students are beloved members of the Renbrook community, attending many school assemblies and performances, creating costumes and participating in the annual Fall Parade, and forming relationships with older "buddy” classes.
