Eighth Grader Excels at Track & Field
We are excited to celebrate eighth grader Chidi Moemeka for his amazing accomplishments in track recently, In the Spring of 2022, Chidi, along with his team at Capital City Track Club, competed in the USA Track & Field (USATF) Indoor Nationals. Individually, Chidi won the National Championship in the 55 meter hurdles. Additionally, his relay team earned All American honors by placing fourth in the 4X200m.
Chidi has been a nationally ranked hurdler and sprinter for the past 4 years, qualifying for and competing in the USATF and Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) Junior Olympics each season. Though hurdles are his main events, he excels in 200m and 400m sprints as well.
These accomplishments did not happen over night. This took years of practice, most weeks 6-7 hours and day long track meets on the weekends. Through it all, Chidi was buoyed by the gains he made after each season from being dedicated to his sport.
