Student Support Services Coordinator & Interventionist

Renbrook School (West Hartford, CT) seeks a full-time Student Support Services Coordinator and Interventionist beginning in the 2020-21 school year. The ideal candidate should have prior experience as an interventionist. Excellent communication skills, the ability to build rapport with students, colleagues, and parents, strong understanding of learning differences and successful interventions are essential.
 
Job Responsibilities
  • Provide small group and one-on-one intervention (typically in reading, math, writing, & executive functioning skills) to students in kindergarten through eighth grade
  • Communicate effectively with teachers, families, and outside specialists in order to coordinate and support students
  • Collaborate with interventionist in the department
  • Analyze data to coordinate support
  • Coordinate web-based interventions for K-5 students
  • Collaborate with teachers and administrators through a combination of team meetings and one-on-one meetings to discuss student progress and areas needing further support
  • Participate in parent/teacher conferences and communicate assessment and progress for each student receiving support
  • Create Formal Accommodation Plans from neuro and psycho-educational testing, run staffing meetings, and educate teachers on modifications and accommodations needed for students with FAPs
  • Initiate referrals and attend PPT meetings for students receiving support through WHPS
  • Engage in shared Lower School and Upper School responsibilities such as arrival and dismissal duties
  • Manage tri-annual administration of standardized tests (MAP, DRA3) for all students and provide accommodations for students with learning differences
  • Support a math intern
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree required (Special Education preferred)
  • Teaching experience as an interventionist required
  • Training in Orton-Gillingham, Wilson, Lindamood-Bell, etc., preferred
  • Strong understanding of federal education law
  • Experience administering a variety of assessments to track and support student growth, including DRA3, MAP, phonics inventories, running records, etc.
  • A strong knowledge base in the area of learning differences, especially dyslexia, dysgraphia, and dyscalculia, as well as a deep knowledge base regarding ADHD
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
