Middle School Mathematics Teacher

Renbrook School (West Hartford, CT), an independent day school for children age three to grade eight, seeks an experienced educator to teach middle school mathematics (Pre-Algebra and Algebra I) and serve as an Advisor for the 2026-2027 school year. This position reports to the Head of the Upper School (Grades 5-8).

The successful candidate will possess the following experiences and qualifications:

  • A master’s degree (preferred) or bachelor’s degree in mathematics or related field.
  • Experience teaching middle school-age children, particularly in an independent, day, college preparatory, or similar school setting.
  • A love and enthusiasm for teaching middle school mathematics.
  • A willingness to teach Algebra II and Geometry if the need arose.
  • A strong understanding of child development and the unique needs of middle school students.
  • Skill in differentiating instruction and supporting learners with a range of abilities and backgrounds; familiarity with standards-based grading or inquiry-based math instruction.
  • A proven record of positive and constructive peer-to-peer collaboration.
  • Skills, talents, and flexibility for contributing to an independent school community in additional capacities like coaching sports, leading homeroom, advising extracurricular activities, etc.
  • Proven history of building positive relationships with and among students, parents, and faculty.

The review of candidates will begin immediately with an expected start date in August 2026.
