Applying to Grades 5-8

Students in Grade 5-6 experience exceptional transitional years within the Upper School with an intentionally designed program for these pivotal years while students in Grades 7-8 experience a rigorous and enriched program of academic excellence. Throughout these important middle school years, students work with experienced teachers in small classes. They learn to balance rigorous studies with important experiences in the arts, athletics, community service, and more. Given the tools and experiences needed, students think and act with greater independence, becoming more responsible, confident, poised, and ready for the years ahead.
Renbrook welcomes students of every race, color, ethnic and national origin.

List of 9 items.

  • Tour the Campus and Interview with an Admission Representative

The admission office will schedule tour and conference appointments throughout the year. The student interview can take place during the initial visit to the school or on their visit day.
  • Submit a Completed Application and the $75.00 Application Fee

Complete the online application form and the "To the Student" form and submit the forms with the required application fee of $75.00.
  • Meet the Application Deadline

It's best to submit an application and all required materials for Grades 5-8 by February 1. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis after February 1 as space allows.
  • Schedule Your Student Visit

After your application has been submitted, schedule your son or daughter's school day visit to Renbrook. This gives your child the chance to sample classes at the current grade level, enjoy lunch and campus life—all hosted by a fellow student at Renbrook. Visits begin after December 1. We require the receipt of your application prior to your child’s visit; this gives us the opportunity to review pertinent information prior to welcoming your child for his/her day at Renbrook.
  • Complete Our Testing Requirements

Decide on your testing option. You can register your child for the Secondary School Admission Test (SSAT) by going to and signing up for one of the national test dates. Or, you can take Renbrook's In-house Assessment, which can be scheduled for the day of your visit. Alternatively, we can accept your scores on the ISEE, ERB or CPT if they are from the current or previous school year.
  • Complete the "To the Student" Form and Return It

The "To the Student" form is a great way for you to tell us about yourself. Complete it in your own handwriting and send it to back to us.
  • Provide All Required Records

All transcripts, including grades and standardized testing, will be released by sending a signed copy of the Records Release Form to your child’s current school. Two years of transcripts are required. This includes the current academic year as well as the past year.

Two completed Teacher Recommendations (including one from your child's current teacher) are also required. Please request teacher recommendations after November 15. This will give your child's current teacher adequate time to get to know him or her well.

Each applicant is also required to complete the To the Student Form

You will be notified by the Admission Office when your child’s application file is complete.

  • Expect Notification

For applicants who meet the February deadline, admission notifications will be made by March 10. Applications received after the deadline will be considered on a rolling basis and as space allows.
  • Financial Aid

If you are applying for financial aid, we recommend completing the SSS application as early in the process as possible because the available funds, although substantial, are not unlimited. In order to receive an award in the first round of decisions, your application for financial aid must be completed by February 15.

Admission decisions are made on a need-blind basis. By helping academically qualified students to attend regardless of their families’ resources, financial aid strengthens the economic and social diversity of the school, which is key to Renbrook's mission.
