Transportation Options

Transportation for West Hartford Students

The Town of West Hartford provides busing transportation to and from Renbrook School for our students who reside in West Hartford. Families must submit an annual Private/Parochial Transportation Request to arrange for busing. The Town of West Hartford determines the drop-off and pick-up schedule for the buses each year according to the number of Renbrook students and where they reside.

Families in other towns arrange carpools with other Renbrook parents from those towns.

Renbrook's Glastonbury Express

Getting to Renbrook is easier than ever for families living in Glastonbury and adjacent towns, thanks to Renbrook's Glastonbury Express bus.

This service offers Renbrook students in Grades K-9 one-stop transportation between Glastonbury, CT and the Renbrook campus in West Hartford. All transportation is run by DATTCO, specialists in school transport.

Sign-up is on an annual basis. For more information, contact Jane Livziey, Director Enrollment Management by email at or by phone: 860.236.1661ext. 219.

Q: Where is the Glastonbury Bus Stop?
A: The Glastonbury pick-up and drop-off site is at Highland Park Market, 1320 Manchester Road, Glastonbury.
Q: What route is followed?
A: The school and the experts at DATTCO have worked together and established a safe, efficient and consistent route.
Q: How can I be assured of the safety of my child(ren)?
A: The safety of your child(ren) is our primary goal. All vehicles will be equipped with seat belts, GPS tracking units, and 2-way radios connecting with the central dispatcher. DATTCO specializes in public and private school transportation.
Q: Who will be in charge of discipline on the bus?
A: It is our expectation that Renbrook students will behave according to the standards set at school. If corrective action is necessary, depending on the student's grade level, the contacts will be the Lower School Head, Jeff Tremblay or Kara Ashley, the Upper School Dean of Students.
Q: What happens if I am late picking up my child(ren) in Glastonbury?

A: No student will ever be left alone to wait for his/her parent. If you are late, the Glastonbury Express will wait an additional 10 minutes for you to pick up your child(ren). After that time, the driver will contact Renbrook School and DATTCO's central dispatcher before taking your child(ren) back to Renbrook in West Hartford*

*An additional fee will be charged if this happens.

Q: How will I be notified of weather-related changes in the schedule?
A: All changes in the schedule will be announced on the school's hotline: 860.231.2257. This will include school cancellations, delays and early closings. Dining Services

Dining Services

The talented chefs from SAGE Dining Services offer a daily culinary adventure for the Renbrook community. SAGE's seasonal menus are custom designed for Renbrook, reflecting the students' preferences as well as the fresh products available in the market. SAGE's registered dietitians review and approve each menu to ensure that it offers a wide variety of nutritious choices.

Food Allergy Policy
Renbrook is Nut and Peanut Free Renbrook strives to be a nut and peanut-free school. Food items brought to school for any reason must be free of nuts and/or peanuts in any form.

• Please read all labels and store signage with great care.

• Look for wording such as "may contain" or "made on the same machines or premises with."

• Remember, such products pose a threat due to cross-contamination and should not be brought to school. We have students with life-threatening allergies. We cannot risk having these students go into rooms where there are—or have been—food items containing nuts or peanuts in any form.

Renbrook strives to accommodate food-allergic children through efforts not often found elsewhere. The Renbrook food allergy policy and protocol are posted on our website.

The SAGE Spotlight Program

SAGE believes all foods fit on your plate when you practice variety, balance and moderation. The SAGE Spotlight Program© makes this easy! We assign color-coded dots to all menu items to guide your decisions. Our program encourages a healthy relationship with food that is both fun and nutritious.

A balanced approach to eating relies on getting a variety of nutrients from a broad array of foods. Moderation is key since all foods contain differing amounts of nutrients. The green, red and yellow dots indicate how much and how often certain foods should appear on a plate.

Green spotlight foods are the foundation of your plate. Simply prepared fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins and non-fat dairy are common green dot foods. Everyday, add a variety of these foods to at least half your plate for added color and nutrients.

Yellow spotlight foods add a mix of nutrients and flavors to your plate. Yellow dot foods include fruits, vegetables, grains, proteins and low-fat dairy prepared with moderate amounts of added sugar, fat and/or salt. Balance your plate by filling a quarter to a half of it with yellow dot foods.

Red spotlight foods provide valuable nutrients, but also contain some you want to moderate. Focusing on portion or frequency is a great way to enjoy red dot foods. Reserve a quarter of your plate for foods like macaroni and cheese, or add items like pizza to your plate a couple times per week.

SAGE's registered dietitians evaluate and update the program on an ongoing basis. As part of the SAGE Signature Service©, they analyze recipes and review menus for balance, completeness and accuracy.
