| Renbrook's Math Center is unique in the region because of its focus on middle school mathematics within an extensive facility which includes:
- Four math classrooms equipped with SMART Boards, SMART VIEW technology, graphing calcuators, white boards and flexible worktables.
- Computer laboratory space for research and class work.
- Tutoring spaces with full-day access
- Math Department office and resource center.
- Five teachers specializing in middle-school and Grade 9 math.
Built on the site of the former library (now housed in the 16,000 sq. ft georthermal Library/Tech Center), the Math Center sparkles with bright colors: red counter tops, blue chairs, white walls and multicolored art on every wall. These architectural images, mobiles, designs and portraits answer the question: "Why learn math?" by showing how math is everywhere. Renbrook's program incorporates a hands-on approach to math concepts and practice designed for students of all abilities. Math teachers are available throughout the day to offer assistance and the Math Center is open all day for student use. Students use the computer lab for research using programs like Geometer's Sketchpad as well as coursework. Teachers incorporate the use of graphing calculators and math-specific websites in their everyday teaching. Students submit lab reports as part of their classwork. (In 7th grade, this classwork also includes a math-based economics course). Renbrook regularly places in the top tiers of regional MATHCOUNTS competitions and with the New England Math League.
