Child Care Hours & Drop-In Services
Introduction
To best meet the needs of its families, Renbrook offers a variety of child-care programs for Beginners–Grade 5. For more information contact Nancy Bates, Director,  Marilyn Maxwell, Supervisor, or Sue Young, Administrative Assistant of Child-Care Programs.

The student:teacher ratio is no greater than 10:1 in Renbrook's child-care programs.
  • All programs are staffed by adults experienced in teaching, including members of the Renbrook faculty.
  • Daily activities may include cooking, arts and crafts, drama, outdoor play, games, storytelling, and more.
  • The atmosphere is relaxing, fun, and a change of pace from the school day.
Additional costs are associated with child-care programs.

After-School Program
All children in the Beginners-Grade 5 programs may participate in the After-School Program M-Th. 3-6 p.m. Fridays 2-6 p.m.

Families may participate on a daily or weekly basis by contract. This service may also be used on a drop-in basis, subject to advance notice to the classroom teacher or the receptionist at the Front Desk. For students in Grades 3-5, there is a quiet study time set aside for homework.
     Lower School parents who would like their children to go to the Renbrook library after school will need to be present to supervise.

After-School Plus+
During each term, we offer After-School Plus+ a 6-week program of enrichment activities for children in Grades K-5.

After-School Plus+ includes a wide range of activities in small-group settings. Activities have included cooking, chess, drama, board games, , puppetry, knitting, and yoga.
  • Students must be registered for After School Plus+
  • Activities are not offered on a drop-in basis.
  • Materials fees are associated with these activities.

Extended-Day Program
Renbrook Beginners and JK students may participate in the Extended-Day Program 12:30-3 p.m. M-Th. and Fridays until 2 p.m.

Children may attend on a daily or weekly basis; there is no drop-in service. Additional costs are associated with these programs which are offered on a contractual basis. 
  • The Beginners program includes a rest period. During this time, Beginners rest on cots provided by the school.
  • JK activities include a rest period, indoor activities and outside play, weather permitting.
  • JK students are required to have sleeping mats for the after-lunch rest period. Mats are provided through the school.
In the Extended-Day Programs, the student:teacher ratio is no greater than 10:1. The programs are staffed by members of the Renbrook faculty, however, the children may not necessarily remain with their classroom teachers.

Vacation Care
Vacation care is offered for students in Grades Beginners-5.

Vacation care is offeredduring December and March vacations, most school holidays, and weekdays when camp is not in summer session.
  • Children must be registered in advance in order to participate.
  • Vacation care may be cancelled when registration is low.
  • Children bring their lunches during vacation care.
  • Swimming is included during summer care.
  • Lifeguards are Red Cross certified.

Vacation Care Plus+
Each summer, Renbrook offers Vacation Care Plus+ for children in Grades K-5.

Vacation Care Plus+ offers a wide range of enrichment activities for Grades K-5. Programs are one week long and have included cooking, drama, art, technology and puppetry. Children enjoy these actvities in small-group settings.
  • Students must be registered for the Vacation Care Plus+
  • These activities are not offered on a drop-in basis.
  • Additional materials fees are associated with this program.
Drop-In Services
Beginning & Lower School Drop-In
This service starts at 7 a.m. and is free of charge on a drop-in basis.

  • Students  (Beginners-Grade 5) who arrive before school opens must go to Heather Commons.
  • Renbrook staff members supervise children in Heather Commons
  • This service begins at 7 a.m. an hour before school buildings open officially at 8 a.m.

Upper School Drop-in Services

Upper School students have proctored study halls before and after school.


Study halls are available to students in Grades 6-9 each day:

  • 7:00-7:50 a.m. and 4:00-6:00 p.m., M-Th
  • 7:00-7:50 a.m. and 2:00-5:00 p.m. on Friday.

 The study halls are proctored by a teacher. Students attending must check in on arrival.

  • There is no charge for these study halls during designated times.
  • A fee is charged to parents when students are picked up late (after 6:00 p.m. M-Th; after 5:00 p.m. Fri.).

Vacation Care
Vacation care opportunities are based on parent need and enrollment when school is not in session. This service is for enrolled students only. Grade levels covered are Beg.-Grade 5. Hours are 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
