Parent Association

Every Renbrook parent is a member of the Parent Association. The PA's primary goal is to support the school--students, faculty & families--through the activities of its committees. All parent volunteers support the school with their time and talents, enjoying the chance to meet other parents and become part of the Renbrook community.
  • The PA meets monthly, generally on Wednesdays right after morning drop off.
  • All parents are welcome to attend these meetings.
  • All PA meeting dates are listed on the online calendar & publicized via the PA E-Newsletter & other e-mail options.
  • To reserve spaces for PA meetings, parents are asked to contact PA President Mary Ellen Burstein to make sure the dates don't conflict with existing PA events.
For more on PA activities, go to PARENTS on this site & log into the secure Parent Community pages.
PA Committees
Book Fair
The Book Fair Committee organizes Book Fairs benefiting the School Library. Volunteers work in shifts and assist with set-up, cashiering and marketing these events. In addition, 20% of all our purchases at  www.booktopiafairs.com will benefit Renbrook.
  • Simply shop online, and at check-out, choose Renbrook as the school you want to support.
  • This is a year-round fundraising opportunity for the school.

Celebrate Renbrook
This is the PA's major fundraising (& friend raising) event of the year. The funds support professional development, financial aid and vital school programs. "Celebrate" is held in late May and includes the Connie Walkwitz Memorial Golf Tournament, a Dinner-Auction & more. Volunteer opportunities are many & all are great fun.

Class Pictures
Parent volunteers organize:
  • Class Picture Day
  • Family Picture Day is back! (Event offers members of the Renbrook community the opportunity to have their family photographed outdoors on the Renbrook Campus. These portraits will be available in time for holiday giving. Volunteers are needed to help advertise the event & assist with scheduling families. In case of rain, portraits can be re-scheduled at MotoPhoto in Avon, CT.)
  • The Paul Cryan Photography event.

Connections
Connections volunteers plan 2-3 events each year to enhance the multicultural & multiracial experience at Renbrook. These events have included book discussions, music & dance programs, cultural presentations & service projects.

Events
Events Committee volunteers organize and publicize PA programs, including the Opening Day Coffee, as well as provide refreshments for the Arts Cabaret, Sports Awards ceremonies, Graduation & other events throughout the year.

Gardens
Garden Committee volunteers help beautify the campus with spring & fall plantings, as well as maintaining the fine landscaping of the campus grounds. Volunteers also provide the winter holiday decorations.

Grandparents & Great Friends Day
Held every 2 years, Grandparents &  Great Friends Day is made possible by the PA volunteers who assist in the planning and implementation of this popular event. Volunteers help prepare schedules, manage set-up, host the event & lead tours.

Library
PA volunteers assist librarians with shelving books &/or projects such as processing new materials, covering & repairing books, even laminating posters. Library volunteers also help run the "To Renbrook with Love" book purchase & dedication program.

Lower School Publishing Center
Parent volunteers staff the Publishing Center during school hours & accept manuscripts which they bind and publish as books at school.

Lunch Volunteers
Volunteers assist teachers at lunch, helping first & second graders as needed. Many work during their children's lunch periods & may also join them for lunch.

RenFriends
RenFriends Committee members meet twice a year & oversee the program which matches current families with families new to Renbrook. RenFriends make introductory calls during the summer & check-in calls during the school year.
